Forestry, Agriculture and Fishery Products
Ehime's versatile natural environment and its adbundance of natural 
resources, has enabled Ehime to develop various produce from its agriculture 
and fisheries. Food products such as tempura made from hotaru-jako and eso,
and kamaboko (boiled fish paste) are produced from fish caught in the Uwa 
Sea. And Chinmi Foods, or local delicacies are made from the many fish 
caught from the bountiful Seto Inland Sea, through fishing communities 
such as Iyo City and Masaki Town. Such produce are enjoyed not only within 
the prefecture itself, but also on a national scale.
Biotechnology: The Key to New Product Development
R&D of biotechnology will play a crucial role in the future of food processing 
and manufacturing. Various companies in Ehime are conducting research in 
their fields of strength, to contribute to the development of new products. 
Such efforts for development is actively supported by the prefectural 
government.
