Anti-Pollution to the Development of Synthetic Products
During the Taisho Era (1912-1926), Ehime was able to utilize the gas
expelled in copper-refining, to make new chemical products. After the
second World War, one of the largest chemical conglomerates in Japan
was established in Ehime to produce fertilizers and chemicals. Today
with its long history of chemical manufacturing serving as its foundation,
Ehime is making advancements into the field of fine chemicals.
Synthetic Materials for the Future
Factories of large businesses are located along the coastal industrial
districts of Matsuyama and Saijo. The former technology of this area has
been transformed into the production of synthetic materials such as carbon
fibers used in aircrafts, interior of automobiles and film. Further development
is anticipated within this field.
