The distinguishing characteristics of tobe pottery include its indigo blue color on simple white porcelain, the thickness of the porcelain and its solid and uncomplicated form. The simple and moderate features of tobe pottery, are loved by the Japanese and such features make them suitable for daily use as tableware, vases and ornaments. Today in Tobe, there are over 70 kilns competing to carry on this art. There are also a number of pottery centers where visitors can enjoy trying their hand at creating tobe pottery. In recent years, the uses of tobe pottery has been further expanding at the ideas of users, such as for drinking coffee or for when eating western style food.
