The Unsyu mandarin orange is the main kind of mandarin orange produced in Ehime, and have a history dating back to the Edo Era (early 19th century ). By the end of the 19th century, their excellence in quality was already known across the country. Ehime is now researching and experimenting with various methods of cultivation, such as winter tree ripening and multi-planting, in order to produce even more delicious mandarin oranges. Today, their juice, gelatin, and other processed products are being mass produced and shipped throughout Japan. Pom Juice, known as the juice produced by serious orange growers of Ehime, is a representative brand of Ehime's products and are popular nationwide.
