Detailed Information

Since 1975, deformed young raised yellowtails have been found in various places, and safety has been doubted at once with regard to the non-polluting paint materials including organic tin compound (TBTO) which is used for fishing nets and paint materials of the bottom of the ship.

And in 1985, the Environment Agency conducted the investigation of the content of TBTO (tri-Butyl tin oxide) in fish and shellfishes. As a result, the materials described above were found to be accumulated in fish and shellfishes in all of the surveyed sea areas for 0.06 to 1.7PPm. Therefore, the Central Council for Pollution Control Measures announced that pollution preventing measures should be taken immediately for TBTO.

As we have recognized the pollutive characteristics of TBTO long since, we have continued the researches of a new non-polluting paint materials which "keep harmony with the nature" based on the principle that "keeping the safety and prosperity of the ocean is important", in order for Japan, the country that is surrounded by the ocean, to develop properly.

One of the results of the researches was the corrosion-proof, non-polluting paint materials called "Marino Coat", which was made into one of our products as a result of the researches in which sterilizing properties were found to be enhanced by controlling the elution amount of copper ion, before which metallic copper was selected from non-organic metals that had the sterilizing effects by metallic ion.

In 1980, sewage treatment facilities in Imabari-shi contacted us regarding the corrosion of concrete and prevention of the spread of algae, and we made detailed investigation on the conditions of the site. As the countermeasures for the problems, we conducted a three-year practical test. The procedure of the test was released in the "Sewer Monthly" (Vol.6 No.9), and we have had many inquiries from the facilities in all over Japan.

Three years after that, the effectiveness of our method was recognized by Imabari-shi which adopted it as the construction that "prevents corrosion of concrete and spread of algae".

In addition, Mr. Shigeo Takeda, an engineer of Imabari-shi, proved the effectiveness of our method in "Sewer Monthly" (Vol.7 No.8) in 1984. As a result, sewage treatment facilities in various places and people engaged in fishery industry adopted our construction method which has been highly evaluated.

After that, several improvements were made, and "Line Guard" as existingnow was completed. In 1994, it was certified as the suitable product for sewage treatment facilities of Nihon Gesuido Jigyodan, and the expectation for this product has been increasingly enhanced.

In recent years, various sewage treatment facilities have had the problems of algae which is generated in watercourses and water tanks and makes the water current poorly. As these conditions are insanitary and create the source of the generation of Yusurika, some sewage treatment facilities adopt the algae-proof measure using the sterilizing effects of copper ion by putting the processed steel board to the water tank. With this method, however, connecting areas of water and steel board are big, and the elution amount of copper ion becomes large by the influence of the treatment water (weak acidity), which makes holes soon on the steel board. This signifies the possibility that the elution amount of copper ion exceeds the industrial sewage standard. We think that the method which has the possibility of becoming the source of pollution should not be taken in the public facilities of the local governments.

"Line Guard" controls the elution amount of the metallic ion, which makes the elution amount of metallic ion very small, and it is less than the industrial sewage standard and very safe. Also, the effect will last more than ten years, which makes it very economical.

Also in recent years, Kanro and Chindenko of sewage treatment facilities have the problems of microbe corrosion by hydrogen sulfide and of concrete corrosion by attachment of algae. The cause of these problems are the neutralization of concrete by sulfuric generated by sulfur oxide bacteria and by carbon dioxide generated by algae, based on the hydrogen sulfide generated in the sewage treatment facilities. Various methods of corrosion-proof lining are now adopted for the countermeasures, but the period in which these methods are used is very short, and so it is not determined yet as to which method is effective.

"Line Guard" developed by our company is an excellent product which is highly safe, economical and convenient. It is an epoch making inventionadaptable for both corrosion-proof measures for microbes of concrete and control measures for attachment of underwater creatures. "Line Guard" is made from polymer cement mixed with several kinds of safe non-organic metals. Using the sterilization effect of metallic ion by the combination of these metals, it prevents attachment and spread of underwater creatures, and protects iron and concrete from corrosion by sulfuric and carbon dioxide generated by microbes. It is a new paint with sterilizing, algae-proof and corrosion-proof functions.
